We have designed this resort to offer our guests superior quality Accommodation along with exploration of wilderness in Little Rann of Kutch.

The Owners have more than 15 years of experience running hotels in New Delhi. This resort is closest from the Sanctuary, as compared to all hotels in this area. Right now we are running the biggest resort in Gir National Park, since the last 10 years.

Little Rann of Kutch Jeep Safari

Little Rann Resort has a fleet of well-maintained open vehicles for cross-country safaris in the Little Rann of Kutch, a 4950 sq km wildlife sanctuary comprising a huge expanse of saline desert wilderness interspersed with grass, scrublands, and marshes.

The Little Rann of Kutch is well-known as the remaining habitat of the endangered Indian Wild Ass, a magnificent member of the horse family. Nilgai (blue bull), the largest antelope in India can be seen during the drives. Indian Wolf, Indian and White-footed Desert Foxes, Golden Jackal, Striped Hyena, Desert, Jungle and Fishing Cat, and smaller mammals like hares, hedgehogs, gerbil and field mice are seen in the sanctuary.

History Little Rann of Kutch

Little Rann of Kutch in Gujarat, covering an area of 4954 sq.km is one of the most fascinating and unique landscapes in the entire world. Wild Ass sanctuary located in this Rann is the home of Asiatic Wild Ass or khur, one of the most endangered species in the world. It was established as a sanctuary on 12th January 1973. Little Rann of Kutch is the 15th Biosphere Reserve. Due to its strategic location on bird migration route and its connection with the dynamic Gulf of Kutch, this sanctuary also provides an important feeding, breeding and roosting habitat for a large number of birds. Many parts of the Little Rann of Kutch provide ideal breeding grounds for some of the largest flocks of greater and lesser flamingos. The habitat of Little Rann of Kutch varies from saline desert plains, rocky and thorn scrub, arid grasslands, plateaus to lakes and marshes. There are around 74 elevated plateaus or islands locally called as bets in this sanctuary. It can also be called a large ecotone, transitional land where two different ecosystems gradually meet, in this case marine and terrestrial. The whole area gets flooded during monsoons. The mixing of tidal water from the Gulf of Kutch with the freshwater discharged from the rivers in this area, makes it an important spawning ground for prawns. On the peripherals of the Rann, there are ample salt panes, where salt manufacturers, locally known as ‘Agarias’ prepare salt.

The safari across the Little Rann visits the 'bets', islands on the ancient seabed that are now higher grounds covered with grass and scrub.

These 'bets' support a variety of wildlife including the 'Gudkhur' (Asiatic wild ass) that is not found elsewhere. The wild ass is a handsome chestnut brown member of the equus genus (horse family). Capable of reaching high speeds when galloping across the Rann, the wild ass is usually seen in small herds.

The elegant blackbuck (Indian antelope), nilgai or blue bull (India's largest antelope) and the graceful chinkara (Indian gazelle) are other mammals seen at the bets.

The main carnivores of the Little Rann of Kutch are the endangered Indian wolf, desert fox, Indian fox, jackals, desert and jungle cats, and a few hyenas.

Smaller mammals like hares, gerbilles, hedgehogs, and reptiles like the spiny-tailed lizard, monitor, red and common sand boa, saw-scaled viper, cobra, dhaman (Indian rat snake), etc, could also be seen during the safaris in the Rann.
